These symptoms can be effectively treated as they are most commonly caused by the underlying OAB (overactive bladder)<\/a> or inadequate benefit from the Urolift procedure<\/a> in addressing prostate obstruction.<\/strong><\/p>\n Few long-term problems have been reported in patients who underwent the Urolift procedure.<\/strong> There appears to be no increased risk of bladder or urethral stone formation after treatment with a trans-prostatic Urolift implant for BPH as long as the implants do not protrude into the bladder. However, in about 10% of patients, removal of implants that protrude into the bladder is required as they can lead to stone formation (encrustation).<\/p>\n There is no increased risk of bladder or prostate cancer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n A small risk of urethral stricture<\/a> (<2%) exists after cystoscopy procedures associated with Urolift insertion. This risk is common to all procedures for the treatment of the prostate that are performed through the urethra and is not unique to Urolift (TURP, Greenlight laser<\/a>, other lasers, HOLEP, etc.).<\/p>\n A small risk of UTI<\/strong> related to cystoscopy procedure exists after the Urolift procedure, which is treatable with antibiotics. Prophylactic antibiotics are administered<\/strong> to minimize the risk of the procedure. <1% of patients may develop urosepsis.<\/p>\n Urolift is effective for 60-90% of patients<\/strong>. However, 10% of patients require a different surgical procedure<\/a> within 3 years of treatment with Urolift.
