Studies demonstrate the effectiveness of Rezum in improving urine flow. Uroflow measurement of urine stream, Qmax, the measurement of urine stream strength improves from 10 ml\/sec before the procedure to 15 (higher is better) 6 months after the procedure; improvements persist at 4-5 years with Qmax of 13. <\/p>\n The benefit of the Rezum procedure is comparably greater <\/strong>than the benefits one would expect from medications. Urine strength is not comparable to surgical treatment with prostate enucleation, where you would expect a Qmax of >20 (higher is better) after treatment. There is some trade-off between efficacy and side effects.<\/p>\n Quality of life after REZUM<\/strong>, as reported by patients, improves by 50%, with symptoms improving maximally by 3 months after Rezum and staying at the same level for 3 years in the study.<\/p>\n Significantly, REZUM is just as effective in men with median lobe as in men without median lobe<\/strong> with IPSS symptom improvement similar between the two groups.<\/p>\n What is significant is that the failure rate of 4% after treatment at 3 years is very low<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Studies show that there is no significant change in ejaculation<\/strong> function or erection quality after 3 years.<\/p>\n You can find images of uroflow as well as before and after treatment images in our image gallery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
