On average, men experience significant improvement in urinary symptoms<\/strong> as measured by the IPSS questionnaire (AUA symptom score) with 50% improvement in symptoms with the score going from 12 to 20 about 6 weeks after iTind Procedure. <\/p>\n iTind works best in patients with small-to-moderate prostate size and mild to moderate urinary symptoms. Before deciding on iTind, we perform a cystoscopy to make sure there is no significant median lobe. Men with a large median lobe are best treated with other procedures.<\/p>\n Most men feel an immediate improvement in their symptoms once the device is removed 1 week after insertion. You can expect continuous improvement for 3 to 6 months after the procedure. Removing the iTind device is almost painless and takes less than 5 minutes. <\/p>\n We ask patients to wait a few hours after the procedure to make sure that they are able to urinate after the iTind procedure.<\/p>\n A small string will be wrapped around the penis, which can cause some irritation. It will be removed along with the iTind device 1 week after the procedure. You can clean the string with soap and water, and you can shower normally.<\/p>\n It is normal to feel an urgency to urinate, frequent urination, and some discomfort in the area of the prostate for 1 week while the device is inside. These symptoms tend to go away soon after the iTind removal. A small amount of blood can occur for 2 weeks after the procedure.<\/p>\n The risks and side effects of the iTind procedure are similar to what would be expected from similar procedures for enlarged prostate treatment. The most common side effects include UTI, a small amount of blood in the urine, and urinary burning that typically resolves within 3-5 days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Men with prostate size less than 60 ml and no large median lobe are excellent candidates for the iTind procedure.<\/p>\n iTind for BPH is currently FDA-approved<\/strong> for the treatment of men with BPH and the United States.
