What are the Advantages of ShangRing Circumcision?
There are a number of advantages of ShangRing circumcision. Recovery and healing after ShangRing circumcision are typically faster than after traditional circumcision. The procedure can be done in less than 15-20 minutes. The infection read is very low after ShangRing circumcision. The risk of bleeding is also extremely low after ShangRing circumcision. The appearance or aesthetic results after ShangRing circumcision are very appealing with circumcision healing typically with minimal scar-line.
What are the Limitations of ShangRing Circumcision In Children?
Children with severe phimosis are not good candidates for ShangRing circumcision. Children who undergo circumcision under local anesthesia have to be mature enough to understand the procedure they are undergoing and be willing and interested to have a circumcision done as they need to cooperate during the procedure and be able to lie on the procedure table without parent presence.
Currently, we limit ShangRing circumcision in the office settings under local anesthesia to children that are at least 12-year-old and who are adequately mature for their age. The child must understand what is being done (circumcision), why it’s being done, and be willing and have a strong desire to have the procedure done. Boys with severe phimosis and granular adhesions are not candidates for ShangRing circumcision under local anesthesia (they should have circumcision done under general anesthesia).
