Some men have recurrent pain during sex each time they try to have intercourse. This is often a result of microtrauma to the penis<\/strong>. Trauma can be caused by ‘tight and short frenulum of the penis’ or ‘frenulum breve<\/a>” that tears easily. Trauma can also be caused by an abnormality of penile skin and excessive friction. Other causes of pain in the penis<\/a> include Peyronie’s disease<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n Curved penis caused by frenulum breve<\/p><\/div>\n Trauma to the penis during sex can occur as a result of frenular tears<\/strong> from vigorous activity especially in men with short penile frenulum<\/a> which stretches and tears during sex<\/strong>. Some men experience pain and a resultant loss of erection. Bleeding from the penile laceration<\/strong> can also occur. Typically the penis may also have a bend at the tip when erect.<\/p>\n Trauma and resultant pain in the penis during sex can also occur in men with incomplete circumcision<\/strong> or who are uncircumcised. When the penis gets erect, the foreskin covering the penis may be too tight to retract over the enlarged erect penis. This condition is called “phimosis<\/a>.<\/strong>” When the tight foreskin is rolled back and forth during sex it can cause severe pain in the penis. Some men have phimosis, others have foreskin scarring or tightness causing this problem. Men frequently complain that they lose erections as a result of severe pain that they experience during sex.<\/strong><\/p>\n Penile inflammation, more common in men with diabetes, can often result in pain in the foreskin during or after sex. Balanitis<\/a> <\/strong>is a medical name for penile inflammation, irritation, and redness.<\/p>\n Paraphimosis<\/a> <\/strong>can cause severe pain in the penis along with swelling.<\/p>\n Various infections can cause pain and ulceration of the penis. STD testing<\/a><\/strong> is advised in such situations as co-existing STDs are common.<\/p>\n Some men experience a sudden onset of pain in the penis during sex which is often described as excruciating pain. This pain often happens when the penis slips from the vagina or is suddenly bend. Sometimes a man may hear a cracking or \u2018popping\u2019 sound followed by severe pain in the penis. <\/strong><\/p>\n Penile fracture<\/strong> can occur during sex with a woman on top or from behind; it can also occur in any other position and even during masturbation.<\/p>\n Pain results from penile fracture or a tear in the tunica albuginea that keeps the erection bodies together. Sometimes the tear may extend into the urethra and cause bleeding from the urethra<\/a> (peeing hole) or present with blood in the urine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Penile fracture<\/a> is an emergency.<\/b> Timely intervention may prevent complications such as erectile dysfunction and urethral stricture.
