What You Need to Know About Cialis for ED Treatment.
What is Cialis?
Cialis is an oral medication that is used to treat erectile dysfunction in men. Cialis helps men to obtain better erections; Cialis (tadalafil) can also help men keep the erections longer.
Tadalafil is the generic name for Cialis. Cialis works by increasing blood flow into the penis; this helps create strong erections.
In addition to helping with erection problems, tadalafil has also been found to help men with an enlarged prostate to urinate better. As a result, it is often prescribed to men who have both erection difficulties and urinary problems, such as waking up at night to urinate and frequent urination.
Cialis also appears to have some anti-inflammatory or anesthetic properties and it helps some men with penile pain and possibly pelvic pain.
Cialis Can Help Men with Impotence to Obtain and Maintain Erections
The majority of erection problems are caused by either inadequate blood flow to the penis or what is known as a venous leak, i.e., the blood leaves the penis faster than it gets in.
Tadalafil belongs to a class of medications known as PDE5 inhibitors (phosphodiesterase inhibitors). These drugs work by increasing the amount of nitrogen oxide available in the blood vessels of the penis. Nitrogen oxide is a chemical that improves blood flow to the penis in men of all ages. Cialis is an effective treatment for men with insufficient blood flow to the penis.
However, in men who have venous insufficiency as the underlying cause of erectile dysfunction, Cialis or tadalafil may not effective and other treatment options need to be considered. A penile doppler ultrasound can help determine if the cause of ED is poor blood supply or veno-occlusive insufficiency (venous leak).
How Fast Does Cialis Work?
Cialis typically works within 30-60 minutes if taken on an empty stomach (fasting); if you take it with food, it might take longer for it to work. It is important to remember that Cialis does not cause you to get an erection in the middle of the street. It helps to get blood to the penis but you still need to stimulated or aroused to get an erection just like you normally do with sexual activity.
How to Use Cialis?
For tadalafil to work properly, it must be taken correctly. Ideally, the medication should be taken on an empty stomach. If it is used on an as-needed basis, Cialis should be taken about one to two hours prior to anticipated sexual intercourse.
There are two ways of using Cialis. Depending on the reason for the use and frequency of sexual activity, men may choose to use it on an as-needed basis just before sex or they may take a smaller dose once a day.
The daily dosing of tadalafil is recommended for men who have urinary problems. The daily dosing of Cialis is also useful in men with erectile dysfunction who want reliable ability to obtain erections without worrying about taking medication an hour before having sex. For many men, regular once-a-day use of Cialis works better than taking it on an as-needed basis because the drug is more reliably present in the body when needed.
Cialis Side Effects
For the most part, tadalafil is a very safe medication. Millions of men have used this drug safely. Some men may experience mild side effects to Cialis, such as headaches, upset stomach, flushing, and stuffy nose. Typically, if men experience side effects with tadalafil, changing the medication to a different PDE5 inhibitor such as Viagra or Stendra often provides satisfactory results. Shockwave therapy for erectile dysfunction may be an effective treatment without side effects.
Is Tadalafil (Cialis) the Best Treatment Option for Me?
Cialis is an effective treatment for a large percentage of men with erectile dysfunction. Most men who start using brand name Cialis or generic tadalafil are very satisfied with it. The medication works well and they experience no side effects.
One benefit of Cialis is that it has a long half-life and remains in the body for over 48 hours. However, this means that men who experience side effects from Cialis may not like to take the drug because the prolonged half-life also causes prolonged side effects. In such cases, there are a few options available. Other medications such as Viagra, Stendra, and Levitra may work well. Changing the dose may make Cialis more effective or reduce the side effects.
For men who do not wish to use oral medications and for men with vascular problems causing ED, shockwave therapy for erectile dysfunction is an effective option. In some men, shockwave therapy for ED used along with tadalafil augments the effectiveness of the oral medication.
What if Cialis Does Not Work?
Cialis does not work well in 15 to 20 percent of men. The reason could be related to an underlying medical problem such as poorly-controlled high blood pressure and/or diabetes or hormonal abnormalities such as low thyroid hormone or low testosterone. Obesity can also decrease the effectiveness of tadalafil.
If tadalafil does not work, medications such as Viagra or Stendra may prove effective in some men. However, typically, if a man has tried two different PDE5 inhibitors and failed to achieve a satisfactory response, it is very unlikely that a third medication will work. Here are some of the treatment options for men with ED when Cialis does not work:
- In many men, addressing the underlying problems often improves the effectiveness of Cialis.
- Combination treatment with tadalafil and low-energy shockwave therapy for ED is another effective option.
- Penile injections with medications such as TriMix are an effective treatment option for men in whom tadalafil does not provide adequate erections. Contrary to initial beliefs, most men find that penile injections are nearly painless and can be easily administered 10-15 minutes prior to sex with very good effectiveness. It is possible to use penile injections for many years with good satisfaction.
- A penile implant is a surgical procedure that is also very effective in allowing men to resume sexual activity. The benefit of a penile implant is that it allows spontaneity. There is no need to carry medications or worry about taking the medication an hour before sex or inject a medication before sex. The penile implant is always ready to go and is associated with a high satisfaction rate among men and their sexual partners.
- Other treatment options are available for men if Cialis does not improve erections, including MUSE intraurethral pill and vacuum erection devices (penis pumps).

He cut the precise right amount of skin. I now feel extremely happy, confident, and proud of how it looks. I am 100% satisfied with my results and I would recommend him to any guy seeking an adult circumcision. I healed in 5.5 weeks but his recommendation is 6 weeks to heal so that means zero “activity” for 6 weeks to avoid damaging the stitching. The surgical glue I pulled off at 5.5 weeks. It is important to not remove it before! The lower posterior of my shaft did not look good at first, especially w/ the surgical glue on it, but over weeks it looked better and better w/ the final results by 5.5-6 weeks being excellent When the doctor injected the anesthetic, it was painful since he must inject it deep ~6-8times. During the surgery my discomfort was maybe a 1/10, so tolerable. Make sure to buy lots of bandages/gauze before/after for daily change for 5-6 weeks

When my condition first started I saw four different urologists over a period of about 6 months. All four either laughed me out of their office saying there’s nothing they could do to help, that my pain was normal, or prescribed me something that did not help or made everything worse. I prepared to live my life (22 years old now) with chronic pain that made participating in every day activities extremely difficult. He performed a Shang Ring circumcision for me and the procedure went well. I’m pleased with the results and there were no complications. If anyone is interested in the shang ring circumcision in the tristate area, then I’d recommend him. The whole procedure is $1850, which includes the initial consultation (provided that ther are no complications) and every follow up visit up to six months.
