Visible Blood in Urine is Rare after Exercise.<\/h2>\n

Exercise and Bleeding<\/p><\/div>\n

Blood in the urine<\/strong> is an uncommon symptom that sometimes occurs after vigorous exercise.  Usually, bleeding is microscopic <\/em><\/strong>and cannot be seen with a naked eye.  Most commonly blood in urine is detected on the microscopic exam of urine done in a doctor\u2019s office for an unrelated reason.  In this situation, dehydration or trauma from vigorous exercise is often the cause especially in men and women younger than age 40 who are not smokers and otherwise healthy.<\/p>\n

Sometimes a significant medical problem exists that accounts for visible blood in the urine. Evaluation by a urologist is advisable.<\/p>\n

Visible Blood In Urine After Vigorous Exercise Such As Bicycling Or Marathon Running<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Visible blood in urine can sometimes occur after vigorous exercise<\/strong>.  While in many men and women evaluation may not reveal any abnormalities, in many others, evaluation of bloody urine after vigorous exercise may reveal significant urological and medical problems.  Blood in the urine may disappear after one episode but that does not mean that there is no serious underlying problem.<\/p>\n
