Current and ex-smokers and patients older than age 50 are at the highest risk.<\/li>\n<li>Close to 30% of people with visible blood in the urine will have a&nbsp;<strong>treatable urological diagnosis<\/strong> (10-30% cancer; &gt;10% benign conditions such as BPH, bladder or kidney stones, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Rates of bladder cancer are higher in smokers and those who are older than age 40, and especially over age 60.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The full evaluation for hematuria<\/strong> requires cystoscopy, CT Urogram with and without IV contrast, or equivalent study (MRI if cannot get CT) at a minimum.<strong>&nbsp;A nephrological evaluation may be necessary<\/strong>&nbsp;for some patients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1em;
