Wart removal<\/a><\/strong> is associated with minimal discomfort<\/strong>. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia after the injection of bupivacaine with a tiny needle (nearly painless).  The procedure itself is typically pain-free once the pain medication is given.  <\/p>\n

We use electrocautery for effective one-time removal of genital warts<\/strong>. Other options include the use of a laser which adds significant expense but no significant benefit<\/strong> over electrocautery, and cryoablation. <\/p>\n

Freezing (cryoablation) genital warts<\/strong> is effective for small warts but requires multiple visits and offers no significant benefit over using electrocautery.  Many practices offer wart freezing as they do not have access to modern electrocautery equipment or do not have the requisite training and experience of using it.<\/p>\n

There are no dietary restrictions after this minor procedure<\/strong>. You may also eat and drink normally prior to genital wart removal<\/strong>.  You can return to work and travel. You can take a shower on the same day or the next day. No sex for 2-3 weeks after removal of penile warts or vaginal and labial warts until everything heals. In general, for scrotal warts, thigh warts, and pubic warts, you can resume sexual activity in 14 days.  No swimming or going to the beach or pool for 2 weeks until the excision site heals.<\/p>\n
