Symptoms of Chlamydia in men<\/h2>\n

Most men who are infected with Chlamydia do not have any symptoms and can transmit the infection to their partners without knowing it.  It is estimated that only 10% of men who are infected with Chlamydia develop any symptoms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Some men may develop urethritis<\/a><\/strong>. Urethritis is an inflammation of the urethra; typical symptoms include difficulty with urinating, burning with urination<\/strong> or blood during urination.  Men may also develop proctitis<\/strong> <\/a>(inflammation of the rectum) as a result of Chlamydia infection.  Pharyngitis<\/a> <\/strong>can occur after oral sex.  In women, chlamydia infection<\/a> is usually asymptomatic but can cause vaginal discharge<\/strong>, pelvic pain<\/strong>, and problems with getting pregnant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Effective tests are available to test for chlamydia in men.  While urethral swab can be used to test for chlamydia; a less invasive option is to simply test a urine specimen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
