Can Botox Improve Night-Time Overactive Bladder Symptoms in Women?<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"PeeingBOTOX<\/strong> is a new medication used for the treatment of symptoms of overactive bladder. Botox can help women who have a constant need to urinate \u201curinary frequency\u201d and urinary urgency.  It has been shown to be effective for women with severe symptoms of OAB as well as those who have a milder form of OAB.<\/p>\n

Botox also works for women for whom medications such as oxybutynin, Detrol, Vesicare, Toviaz, Enablex or Myrbetriq either do not work, do not work as well as they want them to work or who experience side effects to medications.<\/p>\n

Problems Caused by Poor Sleep and Urination at Night<\/h2>\n

Night-time urinary symptoms in women can be exhausting! Inadequate sleep can lead to day-time tiredness, poor performance at work, in school and \u2018grumpy\u2019 mood.<\/p>\n

The effectiveness of Botox for Treatment of Nocturia in Women<\/h2>\n

Botox has been shown to be an effective treatment option for women with night-time urinary frequency, urgency and urge incontinence.  In one study, 20 weeks after Botox treatment, night-time frequency decreased by nearly 50%.<\/p>\n

Botox has a good success rate for night-time frequency and incontinence.  Typically, women with symptoms of overactive bladder have frequent urge to urinate, with a feeling of a full bladder, but only pass a small amount of urine because their bladder is not really full.  OAB gives false signals making you feel that you have a full bladder.<\/p>\n

However, if the volume of urine at night is large, you might have nocturnal polyuria.  Some patients have frequent urination at night because they take \u2018water pill\u2019.<\/p>\n

If your bladder overfills at night, it needs to empty.  Effective treatment for nocturnal polyuria is available as well, but Botox may not be the answer.  Please schedule an appointment with our experienced urologist to determine the best treatment option for your urinary problems.<\/p>\n
