Frequent Urination at Night Causes Problems During the Day<\/h2>\n

Frequent urination at night has been shown to disturb normal sleep patterns and leads to chronic day-time tiredness and poor-quality sleep. This has been shown in numerous studies.<\/p>\n

\"Nocturia\"<\/a>

Nocturia<\/p><\/div>\n

Men and women with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) can develop “neurogenic bladder” as part of their MS symptoms. These symptoms can vary from frequent urination to inability to urinate, depending on which parts of the nervous system are affected by MS in a particular patient.<\/p>\n

Constant urgency and frequent urination can affect sleep quality (can also lead to urinary incontinence).  Fortunately, a number of treatment options are available for “neurogenic bladder” including behavioral approaches, medications, and neuromodulation with Interstim and percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation (Urgent PC).  Botox injections in the detrusor muscle of the bladder may also be helpful.  It is important for patients with MS not to ignore urinary symptoms as they may lead to significant complications long-term.<\/p>\n

All patients with multiple sclerosis  should have regular urological care as urological manifestations are common and can be easy to miss.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
