Success of ICSI (Intra-cytoplasmic Sperm Injection) for Treatment of Male Infertility
What is ISCI?
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is a technique where a sperm is directly injected into an egg that was retrieved from the female partner. ICSI is a type of in-vitro fertilization (IVF) technique. ICSI is one type of assisted-reproductive technique (ARF).
Usually, the sperm is obtained using micro-TESE or previously obtained frozen sperm can be used.
ICSI is the preferred treatment option for many men with non-obstructive azoospermia if sperm is identified during microscopic testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE).
ICSI can be used to overcome infertility caused by either male or female causes.
