Is Kidney Stone and Ureteral Stone Treatment Covered by Insurance?
Kidney stone treatment is covered by health insurance in the United States because it is medically necessary. Some networks may require preauthorization for certain procedures. Imaging studies, prescription medications, blood work, and 24-hour urine collection are covered. If a procedure is needed, insurance covers all costs, including anesthesia, hospital or surgical center expenses, and the surgeon’s fee, according to your benefit plan. You may be responsible for deductible, co-insurance, and copays depending on your insurance plan contract.
