Orgasm After Vasectomy
Vasectomy does not affect orgasm or sensation.
Studies do not show any change in orgasms after a vasectomy. Some men may experience pain during or after ejaculation in the first 1-2 weeks after vasectomy. This typically resolves within 1-2 weeks.
Sperm makes up only a small proportion of the ejaculate in men. Most of the volume of ejaculate comes from the prostate and is unaffected by vasectomy.
Men experience no significant difference in terms of ejaculate volume after vasectomy. Men should be able to ‘come’ after vasectomy normally if they did before the vasectomy.
Sex Drive after Vasectomy
In general, men do not experience any change in sex drive after vasectomy. In fact, many men experience enhanced sexual function, as they do not need to worry about contraception.
There is a small risk of injury to the testicular artery, which may lead to testicular atrophy. Testicular atrophy may cause low testosterone levels. The risk is less than 2%. Low testosterone may be associated with decreased sexual drive and may require treatment.
