35 Years Man with 2 Children. Wife has Side Effects to Oral Contraceptives: No-Scalpel Vasectomy.

GN is 35 years old man married with 2 children from Queens.  He presented with a request for an elective vasectomy. Patient reports that he and his wife are not interested in having more children in the future.  He is not using anything for contraception this time (put-out method).  Wife used oral contraceptive pills in the past but had side effects. The patient does not desire to have any more children.  He is interested in vasectomy.

The patient underwent no-scalpel vasectomy 2 months after initial consultation under local anesthesia.

The patient was seen 1 week after vasectomy – he had minimal discomfort; no-scalpel skin puncture is well healed. He was able to return to work the next day and had some discomfort on day 2.  He went running 5 days after vasectomy.  The patient was advised to get semen analysis in 2 months.

The patient was seen about 3 months after vasectomy. He reports no pain, back to normal.  Two semen analysis revealed no sperm.  The patient was advised that he can rely on vasectomy for contraception.
