Circumcision Revision Soon After Circumcision – When Should it be Done?
We get many inquiries from men who had a recent circumcision done elsewhere and are not happy with the appearance or results of the circumcision.
While occasionally there are complications or problems that need prompt treatment, such as a large hematoma that needs to be removed or the sutures that came apart, I usually do not advise circumcision revision in the first few months after circumcision.
Each man heals differently; some men experience significant swelling, bruising, and prominent scar after circumcision.
Over time, the swelling, bruising and prominent scarring tends to get better spontaneously, usually over the first 2-6 months. For this reason, I usually do not advise circumcision revision in the first few months after circumcision as the appearance may improve to the point that revision may not be necessary.
For men who are unsatisfied with the appearance or results of initial circumcision, circumcision revision can be done in our offices, surgical center, or affiliated hospitals.
