Nearly all Blue Cross plans nationwide cover the cost of the Urolift procedure for our patients in our New York City office.
Because different Blue Cross plans have slightly different Urolift coverage rules, it is important for us to get pre-authorization from your BlueCross insurance plan prior to the procedure.
To establish your eligibility for the Urolift procedure for BPH, a thorough examination and evaluation are performed during an initial visit.

A typical evaluation of men with symptoms of enlarged prostate includes a physical exam, blood tests such as PSA, prostate ultrasound, post-void residual measurement, cystoscopy, and urodynamics study if necessary. Once the evaluation is complete, the information is forwarded to your health insurance, local Blue Cross plan (Empire BCBS, and Anthem BCBS) for preauthorization. The information is also sent to your home Blue Cross plans such as Horizon BCBS, Blue Cross of Illinois, Blue Cross of Massachusetts, Blue Cross of California, BlueCross of Western New York, BlueShield of Northeastern New York, Excellus Blue Cross, FEP (Federal Employee Program) Health Plan, Florida Blue, Highmark Blue Cross, and others.
