Urolift Procedure – Oxford Insurance Coverage (United Healthcare).
Oxford Health Plans now cover the treatment with Urolift for men who suffer from symptoms of enlarged prostate and BPH.
At New York Urology Specialists, we can perform the Urolift procedure for men with Oxford regardless of their mailing address. All procedures are performed in our office in New York City or an affiliated surgical center. Men who live in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and other states come to New York Urology Specialists for Urolift procedure.
Urolift for BPH is an outpatient, same-day procedure. Men are typically able to go home 1-1.5 hours after the procedure.
Does the Oxford Health Plan Cover Urolift Procedure?
Oxford covers the cost of the Urolift procedure for insured members. Oxford health plan is underwritten by UnitedHealthcare and has similar eligibility criteria.
Urolift is covered for men over age 45. For men younger than age 45, insurance pre-authorization will be necessary to establish coverage from AETNA. At New York Urology Specialists we perform a thorough evaluation of men with an enlarged prostate to determine what is the optimal treatment for them. This includes a physical exam, blood tests such as PSA, prostate ultrasound, post-void residual measurement, cystoscopy, and urodynamics study if necessary. Once the evaluation is complete, the information is forwarded to your health insurance, Oxford Health Plan for preauthorization.
